Great news for those who will be visiting Zagreb in the future! There's a brand new airport terminal that just opened last month, which means more flights, to and from more cities, all over the world. We are very excited about Zagreb's new airport terminal, and there has been much anticipation about its build among citizens of this country. Why, you ask? Because the terminal will have the ability to handle more than double the number of passengers per year in the beginning, and even more in subsequent years. "The new terminal will initially handle five million passengers a year, and eight million in the subsequent years through further expansion, compared with the current two million passengers." (Source: http://www.airport-technology.com/projects/new-terminal-zagreb-international-airport/) More passengers equals more visitors exploring Zagreb and Croatia, and that makes Croatians very excited about the prospect of further building their tourism industry. It also makes us extremely excited at the possibility of meeting new guests and having the privilege of driving even more people to and from the airport to Zagreb's center, and beyond! Here's a closer look at some more of the specs: "At approximately 65.000 square metres, the facility is spread over three floors and features three baggage carousels, eight air bridges, nine security checkpoints, 23 passport control booths and a car park with the capacity to handle 1.100 vehicles." The impressive new contemporary design is stunning, looking very aerodynamic and sleek, much like the airplanes flying in and out.
Come on out to Zagreb and have a look for yourself! Looking forward to seeing you soon! Sarah
